Sydney and Melbourne laneways are full of small shops that people go out of their way to find. They do well because they know exactly what they are. We build Shopify stores with the same idea: a clear shop, well run, easy to find.
Laneway Commerce is a Shopify studio in Sydney. We design, build, migrate and look after Shopify stores for Australian brands, from a first store on a premium theme to Shopify Plus with wholesale accounts and an ERP feeding stock levels.
We work with fashion labels, skincare makers, roasters, wineries, homewares studios, outdoor brands and furniture makers. The products differ, but the questions are the same: what will it cost, when will it be live, will Google still find us, and will my team be able to run it.
Most of our work happens on video calls and in a shared project board. If you're in Sydney, we're happy to come to you, see your stockroom and watch how orders actually get packed. That usually tells us more than any brief.

Shopify only
We don't build on five platforms and pretend to be expert in all of them. Shopify is what we know properly, down to the Liquid, the APIs and the changelog.
Fixed prices
You get a written scope and a fixed price before we start. If something changes, we quote the change before doing it.
Your store, your logins
The store, theme, domain and every app account are in your name from day one. If we part ways, nothing needs handing back.
Built to be edited
Every section we build can be changed in the Shopify editor. You shouldn't need us to swap a banner.
Local by default
GST, Afterpay, Australian carriers, consumer law and NZ shipping are part of the build, not extras.
Plain English
Reports, quotes and emails you can read without a glossary. If we use a term you don't know, ask and we'll explain it.
