Neto (Maropost) to Shopify

Neto and Maropost to Shopify migration

Neto was built for Australian retailers and many stores still run happily on it, now sold as Maropost Commerce Cloud. If rising costs, a dated storefront or a thin app ecosystem are holding you back, we move you to Shopify with your catalogue, customers, orders and search rankings intact.

Why brands leave Neto (Maropost)

  • Storefront limits. Neto templates can be restrictive, and bespoke changes often mean paying for developer time on a platform few agencies know well.
  • A smaller app and developer market. Shopify has far more apps, themes and people who can work on it, so fixes are quicker to source.
  • Cost creep. Plan changes, add-ons and fees can add up, so owners often re-cost the whole stack before deciding.
  • Checkout and payments. Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, Afterpay and Zip are first-class, with fast mobile checkout.
  • Hiring. It is easier to find staff and freelancers who already know Shopify.

What moves, and how

Products and variants

Names, SKUs, descriptions, prices, images, weights and variations export from Neto and import to Shopify. Neto's specifics, attributes and kit products need mapping to metafields, options or bundles.

Categories

Neto categories become Shopify collections. Category trees are flattened, since Shopify collections are not nested, and the navigation menu rebuilds the hierarchy.

Customers

Contact details, addresses and marketing consent move across. Passwords do not move, so customers receive an account invite on launch.

Customer groups and wholesale pricing

Tiered pricing is rebuilt using Shopify B2B price lists on Plus, or tagged customers and an app on other plans. We scope this up front.

Order history

Historical orders import as records with line items, totals and addresses, so customers and staff can look them up.

Reviews

Product reviews export to CSV and load into a reviews app, depending on what your Neto store captured.

Blog, content and gift vouchers

Content pages and articles are rebuilt in Shopify. Outstanding vouchers are recreated as Shopify gift cards with matched balances.

Stock, suppliers and marketplaces

Inventory levels come across. Supplier, warehouse and marketplace feeds are rebuilt using apps or your ERP, and this is usually the largest piece of work.

What changes in your URLs

Neto stores often use short, root-level product addresses and category addresses, usually with a trailing slash. The exact pattern depends on how your store was configured, so we confirm it from your sitemap rather than assume. Shopify puts products under /products/ and collections under /collections/, with no way around it.

Every product, category and content URL that has traffic or backlinks needs a permanent 301 redirect to its new Shopify address. Shopify redirects are one path to one path with no pattern matching, so we generate them from a full crawl and your Search Console data.

Illustrative. We confirm the real patterns from your live sitemap before mapping.

What needs real work

  • Inventory and fulfilment. If Neto manages stock across locations or feeds a warehouse, we rebuild that with Shopify locations plus an app or integration such as Cin7. See apps and integrations.
  • Marketplace feeds. eBay, Amazon and Google feeds are rebuilt with Shopify channels and apps.
  • B2B and wholesale. Customer groups, trade pricing and quote flows usually move to Shopify B2B and wholesale, which sits in our Plus scope.
  • Shipping. Neto's shipping rules become Shopify shipping profiles and carrier rates for Australia Post, Aramex or StarTrack.
  • Custom template logic. Anything built into Neto's templating language is redesigned as theme sections, not copied over.

How the migration runs

  1. Step 1

    Map operations first

We list every system touching orders and stock, and decide what replaces each one before building any design.

  2. Step 2

    Staging build

We import the catalogue, customers and orders to a staging Shopify store and reconcile totals.

  3. Step 3

    Redirects and testing

We build the redirect map, test checkout, shipping rules and integrations, and run mobile speed checks.

  4. Step 4

    Cutover

We schedule launch away from your busiest trading days, switch the domain and watch Search Console afterwards.

Migration is included in the Custom package ($18,500 ex GST). Stores with wholesale portals, ERP links or complex multichannel needs are quoted within Plus. Details on the migration service page and pricing.

Protecting your Google rankings

  • Step 1Export the Neto sitemap and crawl the live site so every product, category and content URL is on the redirect list.
  • Step 2301 each Neto product and category address to the matching /products/ or /collections/ page, using Search Console clicks to prioritise.
  • Step 3Check for Neto URLs with query strings and sort parameters, and redirect the ones that rank while letting duplicates drop.
  • Step 4Move meta titles, descriptions and image alt text into Shopify's SEO fields.
  • Step 5Keep the same domain, resubmit the sitemap in Search Console, and monitor 404s for several weeks after launch.

When to stay on Neto (Maropost)

Neto and Maropost Commerce Cloud are strong for businesses that rely on built-in multichannel selling, a warehouse and inventory system, and integrated POS in one product. If your operations team lives inside that system, and your volumes, marketplace listings and stock logic are wired into it, moving the storefront means replacing those pieces too, usually with apps or an ERP. That is a real project, not a theme swap. If the platform is meeting your needs and your costs are fair, staying is a reasonable decision. If you move, we plan the operational side first, not last. Neto (Maropost) to Shopify: common questions

Is Neto the same as Maropost?

Maropost acquired Neto and now sells it as Maropost Commerce Cloud. Many existing stores still call it Neto. The migration approach is the same either way.

Can Shopify handle my wholesale customers?

Yes. Shopify Plus has B2B features with price lists and company accounts, and other plans can approximate trade pricing with customer tags and an app. We scope the right option based on how your wholesale pricing works.

Will my stock stay in sync with my warehouse?

We rebuild that link with an inventory app or integration, and test it with real orders before launch. This is the part of a Neto move we plan first.

Do customers need new passwords?

Yes. Passwords cannot be exported from Neto into Shopify. Customers receive an account invite after launch and can also check out without an account.

What happens to my eBay and marketplace listings?

Listings are reconnected through Shopify's marketplace channels or apps. We map each channel before cutover so you do not lose sales while feeds are rebuilt.

How long does a Neto migration take?

4 to 10 weeks depending on catalogue size, integrations and wholesale needs. Simple retail catalogues sit at the short end, multichannel stores with ERP links take longer.
