Concept store. Homewares, Marrickville
An editorial store that lets handmade pieces take their time.

The brief
Harbour Clay is a fictional Sydney pottery studio, and this store is a concept designed by Laneway Commerce to show our work. It is not a client and we make no claims about results. The imagined brief: a handful of potters selling one-off and small-batch pieces, a limited stock of each, and customers who want to see texture and scale before they buy.

Ceramics are tactile, so the homepage uses an editorial three-image layout with plenty of space. A warm serif sets the tone, and square corners echo the squared edge of a studio shelf. Product images are close and honest, with a size reference shot on every page.
Small stock and made to order
Stock is low on handmade goods, so the store shows exact quantities where a piece is nearly gone and offers back-in-stock alerts. Larger sets such as the dinner set are sold as made to order with a clearly stated lead time, using Shopify's pre-order handling and a note in the cart.
A Seconds collection sells flawed pieces with the flaw shown in a photo.
Australian specifics
Ceramics break, so shipping is set up carefully. Parcels go with Australia Post or StarTrack depending on weight, and larger orders use a boxed rate. Prices show GST inclusive, and the returns policy covers transit damage with a photo claim. Wholesale to cafes and stores uses Shopify's B2B tools. See Shopify B2B and wholesale.
