Concept store. Jewellery, Fitzroy
A concept store for a jeweller where engraving is part of the product, not an afterthought.

The brief
Seam Jewellery is a fictional Fitzroy fine jeweller, designed by Laneway Commerce as a concept store. It is not a real client. The imagined brief: a small studio selling to people who gift jewellery wants a dark, quiet storefront that feels like a good shop, handles engraved made-to-order pieces without errors, and makes insured shipping and returns policies easy to understand.
A dark, editorial storefront
Metal looks best against black. The theme uses a near-black background, warm off-white type and a champagne accent, with a spaced serif for headings. The editorial hero places three images in an asymmetric row, so the first screen feels like a magazine spread.
Photography carries the page. Layouts stay minimal, with plenty of space around each piece.
Engraving that is checked before it is cut
Engraving is the main source of error on a made-to-order jewellery store. Options, character limits and typefaces appear on the product page, and the text is stored as a line item property on the order. A Shopify Flow rule tags engraved orders, which sends them to the bench with a proof step before any metal is cut.
Engraved pieces are not returnable, and the page says so next to the add to cart button. Clear wording here reduces disputes later.
Australian specifics
Prices include GST. Jewellery ships with signature on delivery and insurance through Australia Post or StarTrack. Higher-value pieces have Afterpay and Zip at checkout. Returns follow the Australian Consumer Law, with a clear exception for custom engraved goods.
